About Us

Africa is a land of great human suffering.  Over 28 million Africans are living with HIV, and over 11 million children have been orphaned by the disease.  In many areas, the poor live in “townships” made up of makeshift wood and tin shacks without plumbing or electricity.  Educational opportunities are non-existent, and children lack access to even the most basic medical care.

But even in the face of poverty, disease, and lack of education, hope persists.  Local grassroots organizations are mobilizing to provide testing for HIV/AIDS and build houses for the poor.  Other organizations provide free education and care for children who would otherwise go without.  Still others seek to provide basic necessities such as food and clean drinking water to those living in the townships.

AYAF partners with local organizations to carry out specific projects meant to aid Africa’s poorest citizens.  Our programs take a comprehensive approach to alleviating poverty and disease by focusing on the three areas of greatest need: housing, education, and healthcare.  Through partnerships with local organizations, AYAF provides financial resources, logistical support, and creative input.  Each of our projects is hand-selected to have the greatest impact possible across our three focus areas.

We hope that you will take the time to review our projects and learn about our mission.  Most of all, we hope that you will get involved.  Together, we can bring aid – and hope – to some of Africa’s most vulnerable citizens.
